18 th Annual Conference of the
German-Chinese and the Chinese-German Societies for Medicine in Jena, September
25-27, 2003
Dear
Colleague, Professor Jiang Dazong,
based on the successful biomedical engineering (BME)
programs of previous
meetings in Beijing (1994), in
Berlin (1995), in Chengdu (1996), in Lueb
(1997), in
Guangzhou (1998), in Heidelberg (1999), in Xi"an (2000), in
Regensburg (2001), and in Hangzhou (2002), the Board
of Directors of the
Chinese-German and the
German-Chinese Societies for Medicine decided to
implement again a BME Track into the program of the
upcoming meeting in
Jena. We were asked to organize
the BME portion of this meeting.
Main topics of the medically oriented part of the
meeting will comprise
endoscopy including
ear-nose-throat applications, transplantation (liver and
other organs), and medical ethics. The biomedical
engineering program will
contribute new developments
in endoscopical methodologies, biomaterials,
biosensors, and imaging methods for diagnostics and
therapy. The BME
Technical Committee consists of:
BME-Co-Chairs Prof. Jochen EDRICH (Ulm), PD
A.
HORSCH (Munich), Prof. H.G. APPEL (Wilhelmshaven), Prof. ZHENG Xiaoxiang
(Hangzhou), Prof. BAI Jing (Beijing), Prof. ZHANG
Zhenxi (Xi"an), and Prof.
JIANG Dazong (Xi"an).
It is our pleasure to
invite you to submit as soon as possible summaries of
papers for oral presentation of 15 minutes duration.
Each paper should
describe devlopment and/or
research results in one of your BME specialties,
and
it should clearly point out the novelty of your approach. The summaries
(in English only) should have a length of 1/2 to 3
pages, and be submitted
as email attachment in Word
format (without macros) to one or more of the
chairs. Figures and graphics are also wellcome since
the summaries will
again be published in our home
page (www.dcgm.de ).
Acceptance letters will be sent
out around the middle of June.
In addition to our regular sessions there will be a
Panel on Chinese-German
BME collaborations. Topics
in this panel will include discussions regarding
the
BME impact of the new exchange program, recently signed in Beijing by
the Chinese and the German Governments. You are
invited to give a short
presentation of a few
minutes during this panel about your ongoing and/or
planned BME collaborations. Please, provide a title
of your panel
presentation together with your
summary submission.
Furthermore we are planning excursions to
medical/pharmaceutical/technical
companies, as well
as visits of several modern and well equipped clinics of
the University Hospital.
Your air
transportation should be arranged and paid for by your
own Chinese sources. For authors of accepted papers
the transportation in
Germany, meals, conference
fees, as well as lodging during your stay in Jena
from September 22 to September 28, 2003 will be paid
for / reimbursed by the
German-Chinese Society for
Medicine.
Dear
colleague, I hope that you can come to Jena, since this would provide
an excellent opportunity for continuing or starting
a new professional
relationship, and, perhaps, for
planning a collaborative joint venture on a
BME
project of mutual interest that might be fundable by one of the new
Scientific Collaboration Programs of the Chinese and
German governments.
We
look forward to hearing from you very soon, and receiving your summaries
as soon possible in order to accomplish a timely
preparation of the program..
Sincerely
Prof. Jochen EDRICH, M.D.
